Multicast Addresses of the ECN Network
Communication devices can be grouped at the Consist level or the Train level. A communication device may belong to multiple groups.
• For grouping at the Consist level, all members within a group belong to the same Consist network. Within a Consist network, the multicast addresses of all groups are different.
• For grouping at the Train level, members within a group may belong to one or more Consist networks. Within a Train network, the multicast addresses of all groups are different.
If the ECN is connected to the ETB, the IP multicast address of the ECN should use 239.255.0.0/16.
The multicast address at the Train level is 239.192.0.0/14.
The TBN should not forward the packets whose destination multicast IP is at the ECN level to the ETB.
